Ed Sheeran Is Set To Give You 'Shivers' At The 2021 VMAs

Earlier this week, Ed Sheeran unveiled his latest single "Shivers," a caffeinated although tender bit of dance-pop that marked a far cry from the opening vampire vibes he sent out with "Bad Habits" once that dropped in late June. Here's some good news: Sheeran will perform at the 2021 VMAs in only two days — and he's bringing his fizzy-crush new song as well as him.

Both tunes are set to appear on his upcoming fourth album =, and also "Visiting Hours," and so they fit squarely in his wheelhouse, sensitive singer-songwriter constructs that embrace the largesse of pop. This area is where he's spent a decade forging a comfortable path. It's also what makes Sheeran such a charismatic performer, something he'll bring back to the VMA stage as soon as he performs "Shivers."

His previous VMA efficiency in 2017 boasted not just charisma yet an assist from Lil Uzi Vert, who paired up with Sheeran for an explosive medley of "Shape of You" and "XO Tour Llif3." This year, he's set to bring "Shivers" to dazzling life. Sheeran is also up for four Moonperson trophies, including the night's top prize for the aforementioned vampy "Bad Habits."

And he's in good agency on the performer slate. Sheeran joins the previously reported crop of artists, including Justin Bieber, Travis Barker, Camila Cabello, Chlöe, Doja Cat, Jack Harlow, The Kid Laroi, Lil Nas X, Swae Lee, Machine Gun Kelly, Alicia Keys, Shawn Mendes, Kacey Musgraves, Normani, Ozuna, Olivia Rodrigo, Tainy, and Twenty One Pilots. Kim Petras, Swedish Residence Mafia, and Polo G will perform while in the pre-show.

Doja Cat will host show. Find all of the nominees right here.

The VMAs will air live on Sunday, September 12, at 8 p.M. ET/PT on MTV. This year’s awards will debut a newly redesigned Moonperson statue from fine artist Kehinde Wiley. They'll also honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks by networking with with the nonprofit 9/11 Day on a series of events to promote awareness and positive action around the day’s 20th anniversary.
