Disneyland Closes For The Fourth Time Ever Due To Coronavirus Concerns

Disneyland, otherwise referred to because the Happiest Born is temporarily closing its doors amid the novel coronavirus outbreak. The agency revealed by way of the the official Disneyland website that both of its California parks will not operate beginning Saturday, March 14 by means of the rest of the month. Disneyland resorts will close the following Monday, March 16.


"While there have been no announced cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, soon after cautiously reviewing the suggestions of the Governor of California's executive group and in the perfect interest of our visitors and staff, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, starting the morning March 14 by way of the end of the month," the statement reads.


Despite the alarming variety of closures and event cancellations happening due to the outbreak, the announcement still comes as somewhat of a shock. Disneyland has only closed its doors three times since beginning in 1955, including a national day of mourning immediately following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the 1994 Northridge earthquake, and the attacks on September 11, 2001.


For travelers relying on Disneyland Resort hotels, the organization has devised a plan. "The Hotels of Disneyland Resort will remain open up until Monday, March 16 to give visitors the ability to create required travel arrangements," the statement continues. In addition, the organization says that "Downtown Disney will remain open."

Disneyland closed out its statement by saying that they'll "work with visitors who desire to change or cancel their visits, and will supply refunds to those who have hotel bookings while in this closure period."
