Circle the Drain," the lingering champion of her 2020 album
Color Theory, you could expect a follow-up to lean more into sunshine. Yet on "Shotgun," she's in the muck with gritty guitar line as well as a booming chorus, all produced by Daniel Lopatin, a.K.A.
Oneohtrix Point Never. A wonderful refrain is routinely plenty to chew on. Here, it's songwriter Sophie Allison's ache of loneliness tinged with the excitement of danger: once you want me I'll be around / I'm a bullet in a shotgun waiting to sound." —
